Content And Authority-Building (Infographic)

Relevant, timely content that displays AND develops thought leadership is a source of authority online.  For content marketers, the objective should be to elaborate upon the specified subject, product or service in a way that builds reader interest long-term, convincing people to return.

Credible, useful knowledge has the capacity to maintain readers' attention. This is especially true for businesses, where knowledgeable, trustworthy representations of products and ideas generate good reputation and sales, promoting consumer loyalty in an online world where not everything reported is true.

Authority separates your clients from the ordinary, encouraging a constant, growing audience.

There are many ways that content makes them the authority in a particular field or product area:

  • demonstrating expert knowledge and its application
  • referencing respected persons and organizations in your messages
  • providing links to 3rd-party sites
  • avoiding any suggestion of audience manipulation, by
  • ensuring readers recognize the informed choice your client's message provides.

Good content builds over time, acquiring additional depth and meaning for consumers. If people think your clients are trying to fool them or what they say can't add to their conception of how their products can serve them, they're soon gone. And with them, sales.

See above for a neat little infographic from our friends at the Content Marketing Institute that nicely illustrates the point:
